Describe a change

Answer in the order the paper suggests: what model, then why, then what data you had.

This taxonomy supplies technical vocabulary for describing model changes. It is not legal advice and does not determine whether a change is a substantial modification, a significant change, or a reportable device change. Those determinations rest with manufacturers, regulators, and notified or auditing bodies under the applicable framework.

1 · What model type?

The only step that removes candidates

2 · What was the goal?

Ranks candidates — never eliminates them

3 · What data did you have?

Ranks candidates — never eliminates them

None of these? If your change is an output guardrail, a moderation filter, a watermark, or post-processing, it sits outside this taxonomy by design. See what is in scope.
